Tottenham Hotspur youth center back Luis Binks training with Montreal Impact

WEDNESDAY, 1:50 PM ET: The Impact announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have invited Binks to train with the club during preseason.



WEDNESDAY, 1 PM ET: The Montreal Impact are set to add further defensive reinforcements, with TVA Sports analyst Vincent Destouches reporting that the Canadian club will add Tottenham Hotspur youth center back Luis Binks.


Binks, 18, is an England U-19 international who’s become a U-23 regular for Tottenham. He’s also featured for the Premier League club’s youth teams in UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup competitions.

Montreal, entering their first year with Thierry Henry as head coach, have already added two other defenders this offseason. Versatile defender Joel Watermanjoined via transfer from Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC, while outside back Zachary Brault-Guillardjoined via transfer from French club Olympique Lyonnais after spending the 2019 season on loan.


The Impact allowed 60 goals last year, which was the second highest total in the Eastern Conference. It was the fourth-highest total across all of MLS.


They’re looking to return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2016, with their first MLS match of 2020 set for Feb. 29 at home against the New England Revolution. Montreal are also in the Concacaf Champions League after having won the Canadian Championship, with their opener set for Feb. 19 at Saprissa.
