TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Atlanta United's Leandro Gonzalez Pirez is in the crosshairs of Club Tijuana, who want to make the Argentine center back one of their offseason acquisitions this winter, according to multiple media reports.

The news of Xolos' approach was first reported by Buenos Aires-based journalist Cesar Luis Merlo and later confirmed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Doug Roberson, who cited an inside source who said "the player doesn’t know what is going to happen."

Tijuana finished outside of Liga MX's playoff places in the fall Apertura season and are rebuilding after the departure of manager Oscar Pareja, who has since joined Orlando City

Gonzalez Pirez, 27, has been a foundational element in Atlanta's back line since the club's 2017 MLS debut, starting 95 regular-season games and nine postseason matches and establishing himself as one of the top central defenders in the league.

A year ago he was linked with a move to Boca Juniors in his homeland, but that failed to materialize. Last month, Atlanta executive Carlos Bocanegra said LGP was under contract for multiple seasons after the club picked up his option for 2020.
