Report: Orlando City interested in young Honduran Denil Maldonado?

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Orlando City have a new head coach in place in Oscar Pareja, and a report suggests they are looking at a promising young Honduran player, too.

Marca's Arch Bell reported on Thursday that Orlando City are interested in, among other players, Honduran right back Denil Maldonado, who is said to be close to a move to MLS. The 21-year-old has spent his entire club career to date at Motagua. After a breakout campaign last season, Maldonado, who has continental experience in both Concacaf League and Concacaf Champions League, is a full Honduran international, having made his senior debut earlier this year.

Last month, Maldonado was linked to 2020 MLS expansion team Nashville SC.

Orlando City's starting right back in 2019, Ruan, is set to return after being one of the bright spots during a difficult campaign for the team. The Lions open the 2020 MLS regular season Feb. 29 at home against Real Salt Lake.
