FC Dallas and Homegrown forward Jesus Ferreira have agreed to a new four-year contract using Targeted Allocation Money, the club announced Tuesday.

Ferreira, who turns 19 later this month, enjoyed a breakout 2019 season with Dallas. He had eight goals and six assists in 33 appearances as the club made the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

ā€œJesus has been a part of the FC Dallas family his entire life,ā€ FCD president Dan Hunt said in a statement. ā€œWeā€™ve seen him grow as a player and are looking forward to the impact he will make on this club the next few seasons.ā€

Ferreira, one of the club's many Homegrown products, was a revelation last season. The son of former MVP David Ferreira, Jesus earned a place in the starting XI early in 2019 and never looked back. He made his MLS debut in the 2017 season as a 16-year-old, after initially joining the academy when he was eight-years-old.

The player has featured with the United States U-20 and U-23 sides. Ferreira follows in the footsteps of fellow young star Paxton Pomykal to get a new contract with the club after a breakout season. Ferreira was recently named No. 9 in MLSsoccer.com's 22 Under 22 Rankings, one of the league's premier young talents.

Ferreira is expected to earn regular minutes across the club's front line in 2020 once more, alongside the likes of Zdenek Ondrasek and others. He is capable of playing as a center forward, withdrawn striker and even on the wings.
