TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Antonio Bareiro has become one of the most reliable Paraguayan forwards of his generation, and the player says he's interested in taking on the challenge of MLS.

Paraguay's ABC.com reported on Monday Bareiro's interest in coming to MLS, having established himself as a star for one of his country's top sides, Libertad. Reportedly, Bareiro's current contract ends in 2020 and he wants to come to MLS, but would not rule out remaining with Libertad, where's he been since 2014.

Bareiro, 30, has played his entire career to date in his native Paraguay, for General Diaz, Sportivo Trinidense, Rubio Ƒu and Libertad, winning a second-division league title and three top flight league titles along the way. Experienced in both the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores, where he's made 40 appearances over the years, Bareiro ā€“ nicknamed "The Demon" ā€“ is also a Paraguayan international, his only goal to date coming at an MLS venue, Seattle Sounders' CenturyLink Field in 2017, when he scored in a friendly against Mexico.

The report did not indicate a desired team in MLS for Bareiro, but there's been no shortage of experienced South Americans in the league over the years.
