TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

WEDNESDAY, 11 AM ET: Mexican outlet MedioTiempo reported on Tuesday night that Orlando City SC were also interested in Pulido.

TUESDAY, 10 AM ET: Are the San Jose Earthquakes ready to go big in support of the Matias Almeyda revolution?

TUDN dropped a bombshell report on Monday night stating that the NorCal club are entering talks with Chivas de Guadalajara on a transfer for Alan Pulido, the Liga MX giants' star striker and a Mexican international, to the tune of a $10 million fee. It's the second Pulido-MLS link of the current offseason.

MLSsoccer.com contributor Joel Soria later confirmed the report.

Pulido and Almeyda worked together during the charismatic Argentine manager's successful stint in charge of Chivas, highlighted by their run to the 2018 Concacaf Champions League title and a Liga MX-Copa MX double the previous year.

On Tuesday, Chivas sporting director Ricardo Pelaez addressed the situation in a press conference.

That close relationship is said to be key to the Quakes' hopes of a daring acquisition that would rank among the biggest, priciest and most ambitious signings of their club's history. The fact that Pulido, a Colorado Rapids target several seasons ago, is counting down towards the final year of his current contract may also be a central factor in Chivas' calculations.

Pulido, 28, won a share of the Liga MX scoring title in the Apertura regular season that finished over the weekend, finishing level with Mauro Quiroga on 12 goals even as Chivas bumped through another disappointing campaign that ended with a 10th-place finish, two slots outside the playoff places. The rangy No. 9 previously worked in Greece at Levadiakos and Olympiacos.
