The Colorado Rapids have re-signed midfielder Nicolás Mezquida and goalkeeper Andre Rawls to new contracts, the club announced Monday. Each deal is for two years.

Mezquida, 27, had four goals and six assists across 32 appearances in his first season with the club. He spent the prior five seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps but enjoyed his most productive campaign in MLS with the Rapids last year, setting career highs in minutes and assists while tying his previous season best in goals.

“We are delighted to welcome back Nico and Andre,” Rapids EVP and GM Pádraig Smith said in a club statement. “Nico enjoyed a strong and productive first season with us that saw him finish second in the team in assists and tally four goals, while Andre continued to show his quality in goal in training and during his loan spell with the Switchbacks. The two will reinforce our roster in key areas as we continue to build for 2020 and beyond.”

Rawls, 27, spent last season on loan with the Rapids’ USL affiliate, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. He had six clean sheets in 15 starts with the club and spent three seasons with NYCFC, though has yet to make his MLS debut.
