How Miles Robinson evolved for Atlanta United in 2019 | Inside the Audi Player Index

Atlanta United are well-known for their high-profile international signings, but a product of college soccer is arguably one of their most important players. Miles Robinson, selected No. 2 overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft out of Syracuse, saw his game take a massive step forward this past season.

His US men's national team career is just beginning after several years of patience, and his absence from the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs was certainly felt by the Five Stripes. Robinson, 22, also placed third in voting for the 2019 MLS Defender of the Year award. The stats back it up:

  • Won 66% of tackles in 2019 (40 of 61 overall)
  • Played in 97% of regular-season minutes (2978 out of 3060 minutes, started 33 out of 34 games)
  • Atlanta conceded 1.33 goals per game (43 total goals conceded, third best in the Eastern Conference)

Matt Doyle and Bobby Warshaw explain Robinson’s breakout year, and discuss what could lie ahead for the center back.
