Atlanta United vs. Toronto FC: What's the latest on Jozy Altidore, Omar Gonzalez?

Jozy Altidore - Toronto FC - Mark-Anthony Kaye - LAFC - in action

Will Jozy Altidore and Omar Gonzalez make their return to Toronto FC in time for the club's Eastern Conference Final against Atlanta United on Wednesday (8 pm ET | FS1, TSN, TVAS)?

Perhaps, says TFC boss Greg Vanney.

The pair missed each of the club's first two wins in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs — 5-1 over D.C. United after extra time in the First Round then 2-1 over New York City FC last week — though Gonzalez made the bench for the NYCFC match. Altidore hasn't been in the matchday squad for either.

Altidore isn't yet with the team but will join late after an MRI and could still make the bench, Vanney said via Kristian Jack, while Gonzalez could start.

Once Gonzalez made his TFC debut, the club lost just once in 14 games, going 7-1-6. Altidore had 11 goals and seven assists in 22 regular season appearances (18 starts).

Alejandro Pozuelo has started as a false nine in place of Altidore while Laurent Ciman has partnered Chris Mavinga in central defense.
