Like his older brother, Jonathan dos Santos some day dreams of playing for Liga MX giants Club América. Unlike Giovani, however, he doesn't seem likely to depart his role as the LA Galaxy's midfield engine anytime soon.

In an interview with ESPN Deportes, the 29-year-old Mexico international revealed that playing for Las Aguilas would fulfill a childhood fantasy, but that he is also happy in Carson and is committed to the Galaxy for the remaining two years of his contract.

"América is the team of my dreams," Jona dos Santos said, while at the same time doubting if the winningest club in Concacaf would have use for his services.

"I have two years of my contract left," said dos Santos, who has not heard of any interest on América's part. "I do not think they need me right now, they have great players of high level. And right now I am thinking about the Galaxy, finishing my contract and, if it happens to be the case, to be able to extend it.

"But you never know what the future can hold for you."

Giovani dos Santos departed LA early this season after the club bought out his contract to make room for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to assume a Designated Player contract spot, and arrived at Club América over the summer.

Having battled injuries for much of his four-year Galaxy tenure, including a 2018 season in which he made only 14 appearances, Gio has participated in seven games for América in the 2019 Liga MX Apertura campaign, posting a goal and an assist.

Jona started in all 29 of his appearances in his third year with the Galaxy to help LA reach the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, their first postseason appearance since 2016.
