MLS Disciplinary Committee fines Portland Timbers, San Jose's Cristian Espinoza

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued fines to one team, one coach and one player following games in Week 29 and midweek of Week 30 of the MLS regular season.


Portland mass confrontation

The Disciplinary Committee has found the Portland Timbers in violation of the league's mass confrontation policy. The incident took place following the Sept. 25 game against the New England Revolution. This was Portland's third violation of the policy this season, and as a result the Timbers organization and head coach Giovanni Savarese have been fined undisclosed amounts.


Espinoza violent conduct

The Disciplinary Committee has fined San Jose Earthquakes attacker Cristian Espinoza an undisclosed amount for violent conduct. The incident occurred in the 34th minute of San Jose's game against Atlanta United on Sept. 21.


Espinoza failure to leave the field

The Disciplinary Committee has also fined Espinoza an undisclosed amount for failing to leave the field in a timely manner after receiving his red card in the 34th minute of the match against Atlanta United.
