The San Jose Earthquakes look to snap a four-match losing streak and move above the playoff line in the Western Conference when they host a Seattle Sounders side looking to increase their Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoff standing.
The Earthquakes (13-14-5) are on the brink of elimination from playoff contention following a 2-1 home loss to the Philadelphia Union Wednesday night. The start was a positive one, with Jackson Yueill sending Avaya Stadium, including suspended star Chris Wondolowski, into hysterics in the 35th minute. But Alejandro Bedoya and Kacper Przybylko scored six minutes apart late in the second half to earn the come-from-behind win for the Union.
The Sounders (14-10-8) are hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to D.C. United at Audi Field last Sunday, their second straight game without a goal.
This is the second meeting this season, with Kelvin Leerdam and Harry Shipp scoring two minutes apart in the second half to secure a 2-2 draw for the Sounders at CenturyLink Field April 24. Shea Salinas struck for a brace to give the visitors a 2-0 lead after 53 minutes.
