Having already been eliminated from postseason contention, Columbus Crew SC are looking to play spoilers to the Philadelphia Union, who can move a step closer to locking up one of the top two seeds in the East with a second consecutive road win.
The Crew (9-15-8), who were eliminated following the New England Revolution's 1-1 draw at Providence Wednesday, are coming off a 1-1 draw at Vancouver last Saturday. Gyasi Zardes scored from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, but Fredy Montero struck for the equalizer in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.
The Union (16-9-7) also left it late, rallying to beat the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium Wednesday night. Alejandro Bedoya canceled out Jackson Yueill's opening goal with a 70th-minute equalizer and Kacper Przybylko scored the decisive goal six minutes later to move Philadelphia into second place in the East, six points off the pace set by NYCFC.
This is the second meeting this year with the Union winning, 3-0, at Talen Energy Stadium March 23. David Accam struck for a first-half brace and Ilsinho added a goal three minutes after the restart.
