The Philadelphia Union and D.C. United are both looking to bounce back from defeats to Eastern Conference foes and earn valuable points when the foes square off as part of Heineken Rivalry Week at Talen Energy Stadium.

The Union (13-8-6) were victimized by another slow start, conceding twice in the first half as Nemanja Nikolic's brace helped propel the 10-man Chicago Fire to a 2-0 home win in Week 24. Nikolic broke the scoreless stalemate in the 38th minute and added a 45th-minute penalty kick before Nico Gaitan was sent off in first-half stoppage time, a red card that would later be rescinded.

In a wild and controversial Atlantic Cup showdown, D.C. United (10-9-9) fell to the New York Red Bulls, 2-1, Wednesday night at Audi Field, the team's third loss in their last four games. Kaku staked the visitors an early lead before both teams were reduced to 10 men with Wayne Rooney shown a straight red card in the 24th minute and Amro Tarek sent off for a second bookable offense in first-half stoppage time. Ola Kamara leveled with a stunner in the 55th minute, but Danny Royer scored a hotly debated penalty kick four minutes later to lift the Red Bulls over their oldest rivals.

This is the second meeting this season with the Union winning 5-1 at Audi Field Aug. 4. Goals early (Alejandro Bedoya) and late (Marco Fabian) in the first half put the Union in front, 2-0, at the break. Kacper Przybylko made it 3-0 before Frederick Brillant pulled the Black-and-Red within a goal two minutes later. But Fabian netted his second and Fafa Picault tacked on a pair late to cap the rout.
