The New York Derby heats up again Saturday night, but in a congested Eastern Conference, three points are even more valuable than bragging rights when New York City FC host the New York Red Bulls at Yankee Stadium.

NYCFC (12-5-8) moved to within one point of Atlanta United and the Philadelphia Union atop the Eastern Conference following a 1-0 win over Columbus Crew SC at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night. Taty Castellanos remained hot on a steamy night in the Bronx, scoring the lone goal in the 36th minute with a low finish inside the far post after being played behind by MLS assists leader Maxi Moralez.

The Red Bulls (12-10-5) earned a 2-1 victory in a wild and controversial Atlantic Cup showdown with D.C. United at Audi Field Wednesday night. Kaku staked the visitors an early lead before both teams were reduced to 10 men with Wayne Rooney shown a straight red card in the 24th minute and Amro Tarek sent off for a second bookable offense in first-half stoppage time. Ola Kamara leveled with a stunner in the 55th minute, but Danny Royer scored a hotly debated penalty kick four minutes later to lift the Red Bulls over their oldest rivals.

This is the second meeting this season with the Red Bulls winning 2-1 at Red Bull Arena July 14. Royer leveled from the spot in first-half stoppage time to cancel out Heber's opening goal in the seventh minute. Royer added a second goal on the hour mark, a sequence that started with a quickly-taken throw-in by Alex Muyl despite assistant referee Corey Rockwell indicating for a corner kick.
