Carlos Vela excited - LAFC

It's August, and with the temperatures rising throughout North America, we see the action around MLS also hit a boiling point. LAFC and the New York Red Bulls will wrap up Week 23 on Sunday night.

Make sure to tune in for both Matchday Central shows on Sunday for all the reaction and analysis from the matches. In the meantime, here's what's on the line:

LAFC vs. New York Red Bulls (10 pm ET)

TV: FS1 in US; TSN1/4 in Canada

The Week 23 action wraps up with the only regular-season meeting between the defending Supporters' Shield winner and the current front-runner.

LAFC (1st in West; 52 points) have won their last two games amid a campaign in which they've lost just three regular-season games so far. Most competitors have been unable to stop Bob Bradley's juggernaut, but Bradley's former player (Chris Armas) may have an ace up his sleeve for the Red Bulls (4th in East, 37 points).

The Red Bulls have struggled at times this season with some of the fundamentals – defending stoutly, pressing teams into submission – that marks their way of playing. But given the system-based style and experience in the squad, it's certainly possible they could maintain a 100 percent record against LAFC all-time and shock fans at Banc of California Stadium.
