Reports: Montreal Impact interested in adding veteran Bojan?

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Reports

New Montreal Impact addition Lassi Lappalainen hit the ground running with a brace and MLS Player of the Week honors on his debut, and the club may not be done making additions in the Secondary Transfer Window.

Reports out of Europe indicate the Impact are looking to add Spanish attacker Bojan Krkic, who primarily goes by his first name. Gianluca di Marzio noted on his website on Friday that Bojan met with officials in Bologna, a sister club of the Impact, and "close to finalizing the deal" to join Montreal.

That report was corroborated in Italy by a Bologna-based journalist.

But Montreal-based pundit Vincent Destouches pumped the brakes a bit, saying "several things must happen" to make room for Bojan to join the Impact.

The 28-year-old was a vaunted product of FC Barcelona, playing over 100 times for the first team after making his debut in 2007. Since then, however, he's been to a variety of clubs around Europe, playing in Italy for Roma and Milan, in the Netherlands for Ajax, in England for Stoke City, in Germany for Mainz, and back in Spain for Alaves. Bojan has been capped by Spain at senior level, but hasn't appeared for them since 2008.

The Impact, currently in 6th place in the Eastern Conference, are back in action on Saturday against the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (9 pm ET | TVAS in Canada; MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US)
