The Chicago Fire will look to pump the brakes on a four-match winless streak when they host Eastern Conference rivals D.C. United Saturday night at SeatGeek Stadium.
The Fire (5-10-8) suffered a third loss in their last four games, last Saturday, falling 2-0 to the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium. Marco Fabian and Anthony Fontana scored a goal in each half to lead the Eastern Conference-leading Union.
After a blowout win at FC Cincinnati in midweek, United (9-6-8) fell to Atlanta United 2-0 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Sunday. Moments from securing an important road point, the Black-and-Red conceded twice late as Pity Martinez scored the 89th-minute winner and Josef Martinez tacked on an insurance goal in stoppage time.
This is the second meeting this season, with the Fire and D.C. playing to a 3-3 draw at Audi Field May 29 with Ulises Segura scoring a brace for the hosts and Francisco Calvo netting the stoppage-time equalizer for the Fire.
