Minnesota United look to stay hot and continue its ascent to the upper echelon of the Western Conference, while the Vancouver Whitecaps are hoping to end a losing streak that has reached five games when the sides collide at Allianz Field Saturday night.

The winning streak ends at four games, but the unbeaten run is now five after a 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium last Saturday. Darwin Quintero opened the scoring in the 57th minute, converting off a corner kick. But the hosts leveled 13 minutes later off a corner kick of their own as Marcelo Silva powered in a Jefferson Savarino cross.

The Whitecaps (4-11-8) had a bright start, but conceded three times without response to extend a winless streak to eight following a 3-1 loss to the surging San Jose Earthquakes. Doneil Henry opened the scoring in the 7th minute, but Chris Wondolowski set up Vako for an equalizer nine minutes later and put the Quakes in front with his ninth goal of the season in the 34th minute. Magnus Ericksson put the finishing touches on the victory with an insurance tally in the 79th minute.

This is the second meeting this season with Minnesota United opening the season with a 3-2 win over the Whitecaps at BC Place. After goals by Erik Godoy and Quintero sent the teams into the halftime break level, the Loons broke out for two goals in four minutes as Francisco Calvo and Romario Ibarra put the visitors in front. Henry gave the 'Caps a lifeline in the 81st minute, but that was as close as they'd get.
