The inaugural Leagues Cup, which features teams in Major League Soccer and Liga MX, will kick into high gear Tuesday night with a showdown between the LA Galaxy and Club Tijuana in the quarterfinals in Carson. This is the first meeting in an official competition since the 2013-14 Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals, which Xolos won 4-3 on aggregate.

The LA Galaxy, no stranger to success against Mexican opposition, are coming off an emotional 3-2 El Trafico win over LAFC Friday night at Dignity Heath Sports Complex with the ageless Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring a "perfect hat trick," finding the back of the net with his left foot, his right foot and his head. The Galaxy are second in the Western Conference, nine points behind their crosstown rivals.

After a rough start in the Clausura season under Oscar Pareja, the former FC Dallas coach turned the tables at Club Tijuana with a solid defense and gain credit for his process.

Xolos showed that same stout defense during the preseason, but enjoyed an offensive explosion in the opening of the Apertura campaign, scoring three times in a 3-1 away comeback victory over Puebla.

Two new signings, Uruguayan Washington Camacho and former Chivas forward Angel Sepulveda, made dream debuts as they both scored. Their No. 9, Ariel Nahuelpan, started off like every player in his position would like to do so, finding the back of the net.
