TRANSFER TRACKER STAUTS: Released

The Portland Timbers and former Designated Player Lucas Melano have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, the club announced Tuesday.

Melano, 26, originally joined the club in 2015 but never quite found his footing, with five goals and nine assists in 59 appearances. He was loaned out from January 2017 to June 2018 before returning and sticking on Gio Savarese's squad.

“We would like to thank Lucas for his service to the club – including his contributions in helping the Timbers win their first MLS Cup – and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Timbers GM and president Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement.

Melano won MLS Cup with Portland in 2015 and was with the club when they made last year's MLS Cup final.
