The glitzy success of the Los Angeles Football Club has already left the LA Galaxy in the shade in the City of Angels, says Herculez Gomez.
The retired striker turned ESPN pundit helped the Galaxy win the MLS Cup-U.S. Open Cup double in 2005, but fans of the club will be wincing at his unequivocal analysis of the Southern California rivalry in an appearance on ESPNFC this week ahead of Friday's El Trafico showdown at Dignity Health Sports Park (10 pm ET | ESPN, TSN2 — Full TV & streaming info).
"Bob Bradley's got them playing a certain brand that's exciting, everybody here in Los Angeles has bought in – they've almost forgotten about the Galaxy, this is an LAFC town. It's cool, it's swag, all that other stuff. But it's what's going on on the field," the LA-based Gomez told the studio crew of Sebastian Salazar, Alejandro Moreno and Shaka Hislop.
That was just one highlight among several in the segment, which included conversation about LAFC's place in the all-time MLS pantheon at this stage of their dominant 2019 campaign as well as analysis of the resurgent New England Revolution and San Jose Earthquakes.
