Atlanta United season ticket waiting list climbs above 13,000

Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz - Crowd vs. Seattle

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published Thursday, Atlanta United President Darren Eales revealed that the season ticket waiting list has reached the 13,000 mark — and it's growing by the month.

The eye-popping figure was part of a conversation that touched on a few topics of interest to Five Stripes fans. The waiting list revelation came with another bit of news that might dissuade hopefuls: The more than 36,000 current season ticket holders renewed at a 94 percent rate last year following the team's 2018 MLS Cup win.

According to Soccer Stadium Digest, Atlanta leads in 2019 MLS attendance with an average home attendance number reported at over 55,000.

He was less transparent about any incoming transfer news as the summer window opens, telling reporter Michael Hebert, "We’re always looking to improve our squad, any chance we can. We have a spot available if we want to bring someone in, but it’s all about finding the right player, making sure there’s someone that’s going to help the squad. We just want to have someone to add to the squad and give us depth."

He also gave another piece of news for those who are looking to add to their Atlanta United jersey collections: A new away jersey, replacing the current "King Peach" white kits, should be available shortly after their unveiling in February 2020.
