After consecutive exits in the Round of 16, Atlanta United are looking to reach the U.S. Open Cup semifinals for the first time when they take on upset-minded St. Louis FC at Fifth Third Bank Stadium Wednesday night.

Atlanta United

The Five Stripes booked their first-ever USOC quarterfinals berth with a 3-2 win over Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium June 18.

Brandon Vazquez opened the scoring with the first of his two goals five minutes after kickoff. Miles Robinson doubled the lead in the 14th minute before David Accam pulled the Crew to within a goal in the 40th minute. Vazquez struck for his second in the 65th minute, six minutes before an own goal by Brad Guzan.

Atlanta are coming off a wild 3-3 draw with the New York Red Bulls Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Justin Meram opened the scoring on 10 minutes and Josef Martinez struck for a brace, including the go-ahead goal in stoppage time after Danny Royer and Brian White put New York in front. But Bradley Wright-Phillips leveled even later to secure a draw.

St. Louis FC

After defeating the Chicago Fire to reach the Round of 16 for the first time, St. Louis FC knocked off FC Cincinnati, 1-0, June 19 to book a first-ever quarterfinal berth. Sam Fink came up with the dramatic winner in second-half stoppage time for the USL Championship side, latching onto a Lewis Hilton corner kick and heading in the lone goal.

St. Louis FC rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Loudoun United Saturday. Russell Cicerone set up Kyle Greig in the 57th minute before leveling in the 73rd minute.
