US national team set to learn their path towards Gold Cup final Wednesday

2017 Gold Cup trophy lift - US national team - USMNT - Michael Bradley

The bracket for the knockout stages of the 2019 Gold Cup will be set at the final whistle of the US men’s national team’s matchup vs. Panama in Kansas City Wednesday night (9 pm ET | FS1, UniMas, UDN), laying out the path by which the tournament’s defending champions will look to defend their crown over the next two weeks.

Tied atop Group D on six points apiece, both the US and Panama are already assured of advancement to the quarterfinals, and both know their next game will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday. The question is who they’ll be playing, and at what time.

USA win or draw

In the event of a draw or a USMNT win, the Yanks would finish first in the group and thus face Group C runners-up Curacao in the second half of Sunday’s quarterfinal doubleheader (8:30 pm ET | FS1, Univision, UDN in US).

USA loss

If Panama win on Wednesday, Los Canaleros would win the group and the US would meet Group C winners Jamaica in Sunday’s curtain-raiser (5:30 pm ET | FS1, Univision, UDN in US).

The victors of Sunday’s games in Philly will move on to face one another at Nashville's Nissan Stadium in a semifinal clash on Wednesday, July 3 (9:30 pm ET | FS1, Univision, UDN in US).

The first Gold Cup semifinal will take place the day before at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti and Mexico are the quartet vying for a place in the latter match.

The Gold Cup final will be held at Soldier Field in Chicago, site of the Gold Cup final on July 7 (9:15 pm ET | FS1, Univision, UDN). View the full bracket and group-stage placements.
