Western Conference foes looking to rebound from disappointing midweek results square off in the last of 18 matches in Week 17 when the Portland Timbers host FC Dallas Sunday night at Providence Park.

The Timbers (5-8-2) suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Montreal Impact Wednesday night at Stade Saputo. Tomas Conechny scored his first MLS goal in the 53rd minute, canceling out Orji Okwonkwo's first-half strike. Okwonkwo added a second goal in the 66th minute and that time the visitors didn't have a response.

After a scoreless first half, FC Dallas (7-6-5) raced out to a two-goal lead, but conceded twice in the closing moments to settle for a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Toyota Stadium Wednesday. Jesus Ferreira and Ryan Hollingshead scored four minutes apart for FC Dallas, which extended an unbeaten run to four matches, but Yordy Reyna and Lucas Venuto struck late to steal a point.

This is the second meeting this year, with FC Dallas winning 2-1 at home on April 13 as a Reto Ziegler penalty kick on the hour mark proved to be the difference.
