After early â€” and late — fireworks Wednesday night, D.C. United host Eastern Conference foes Toronto FC Saturday night at Audi Field.

Wayne Rooney provided the drama for the Black-and-Red in a 1-0 win over Orlando City SC when his 70-yard strike following an attacking Orlando City SC corner kick sailed over goalkeeper Brian Rowe and into the net for the game's lone goal. It ended a run of three consecutive draws for D.C. United (8-4-6), unbeaten in four straight and within two points of the first-place Philadelphia Union in the East.

The drama for Toronto FC (6-7-4) came late, very late, as Alejandro Pozuelo scored from the penalty spot in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time to lift the Reds to a 3-2 win over Atlanta United at BMO Field Wednesday. Pozuelo's first goal of the game was part of a four-goal barrage in the opening 27 minutes. Pity Martinez had a chance to level at the death with his second penalty kick of the night, but he skied it over the bar.

This is the second regular-season meeting between D.C. and TFC this year. The sides played to a 0-0 draw at BMO Field on May 15.
