Chris Armas liked a lot of what he saw, but the Red Bulls (7-6-3) conceded late in regulation before losing in extra-time, 3-2, to the Revs in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup. After conceding an early goal, the Red Bulls leveled through Tom Barlow in the 19th minute and Cristian Casseres followed with a blast from distance to put New York in front in the 54th minute. But Teal Bunbury equalized in the 85th minute and added the extra-time winner despite playing the 30 minutes of extra-time with 10 men after Luis Caicedo was sent off for a second bookable offense.

The Fire (4-6-7) squandered a chance to move above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, playing Real Salt Lake to a 1-1 draw at SeatGeek Stadium last Saturday night. Aleksandar Katai put the hosts in front after five minutes, but Albert Rusnak leveled from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.

The Fire won the first meeting this year, a 1-0 home victory courtesy of a Tim Parker own goal three minutes after halftime.
