The New England Revolution look to extend a four-match unbeaten streak when they host the Philadelphia Union in a battle of Eastern Conference foes returning from the Gold Cup break Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium.

The Revs (4-8-4) are coming off a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Orlando City SC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on June 19 at Exploria Stadium. After a scoreless opening 90 minutes, Benji Michel and Tesho Akindele scored five minutes apart to put the Lions ahead in extra time. Fresh off a return from the U-20 World Cup, Justin Rennicks gave New England a late lifeline with a goal in the 117th minute, but that would be as close as the Revs got.

The Union (9-4-4) were eliminated in the fourth round of the USOC, also suffering an extra-time defeat, 2-1 to D.C. United. That match was also scoreless after 90 minutes before Anthony Fontana put Philadelphia in front in the 113th minute. The hosts, though, rallied to level through Chris McCann in the 118th minute and win it on a Wayne Rooney goal at the death.

This is their second regular-season meeting this year, with the Union winning 6-1 at Talen Energy Stadium on May 4. Sergio Santos struck for a brace in a five-minute span to lead Philadelphia.
