TRANSFER TRACKER: Report

Rather than letting media speculation play out, Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia has directly issued a statement that winger Edwin Gyasi is in discussions to join MLS. While no specific team was named, the move is expected to be a loan.

Gyasi, 27, has five caps and one goal for Ghana. Across 50 matches the last two seasons at CSKA, he's recorded six goals and 10 assists.

With Dutch heritage, Gyasi came through the AZ Alkmaar academy system and has previous stops at Eredivisie sides FC Twente and Heracles, as well as second-division club Roda JC Kerkrade. Gyasi has also featured for Aalesunds FK, a club now in Norwayā€™s second division.

The Ghanaian has appeared in seven Europa League qualifiers, scoring on three occasions ā€“ all with CSKA. Former Philadelphia Union midfielder Roland Alberg played one season (2018) for CSKA, as did legendary Bulgarian forward Hristo Stoichkov, who played for the Chicago Fire and D.C. United in the early 2000s.
