After U.S. Open Cup departures, the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake return to MLS play looking to end winless runs in the league when the sides meet at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview Saturday night.

The Fire conceded twice in a four-minute span early in the first half en route to a 2-1 loss to Saint Louis FC of the USL Championship in the U.S. Open Cup fourth round on June 11. Nemanja Nikolic pulled Chicago to within a goal with a 72nd-minute penalty kick, but that was as close as the Fire would get. Chicago (4-6-6) return to league action winless in its last four games and one point below the playoff line in the East.

Real Salt Lake dropped a 3-0 decision to LAFC in the USOC fourth round. Carlos Vela stuck inside the opening 10 minutes, Lee Nguyen doubled the advantage just past the hour mark and Adama Diomande closed the scoring in second-half stoppage time. RSL (6-8-1), which sit at the playoff line in the West, have dropped back-to-back league games after three consecutive wins.
