Dirk Nowitzki to scarf Lamar Hunt statue as FC Dallas salute NBA legend

FC Dallas will honor one of their community's sporting legends on Saturday, as retiring Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki will "scarf" the Lamar Hunt statue at Toyota Stadium before their match vs. the New York Red Bulls (2 pm ET | Univision, Twitter — Full TV & streaming info).

It's a tribute to the German hoops star's two-decade NBA career, and his second time taking part in FCD's pregame scarfing tradition, a nod to the legacy of the club's founder. Nowitzki's first scarfing took place in 2012 (photo above).

An added bonus for thus Saturday's game: Fans can support the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation's work with at-risk children by buying tickets through a link that donates $5 per ticket to the cause.
