Player of the Matchday

Atlanta United's Ezequiel Barco named MLS Player of the Week for Week 7

Behind Atlanta United's first MLS win of the season, Ezequiel Barco stood tall.

The 20-year-old scored twice in his side's 2-0 win over the New England Revolution, earning MLS Player of the Week for Week 7.

Barco started on the bench but an early injury to Eric Remedi forced head coach Frank de Boer's hand and Barco repaid his faith. The attacker got on the board with a cool finish from six yards out following a great run and assist by Tito Villalba

In the second half, Barco cracked a golazo to double Atlanta's advantage. He picked up the ball at the top left corner of the 18, took a touch to his favored right foot and whipped a finesse shot straight into the top corner with considerable bend.

It was Barco's first multi-goal game in MLS. He now has three goals in five appearances this season and will look to add to his tally on Saturday against FC Dallas (4 pm ET | ESPN in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
