DC United left shorthanded at fullback as McCann, Jara injured vs. Impact

Chris McCann, Shamit Shome - DC United vs. Montreal Impact

D.C. United find themselves shorthanded at the fullback position after suffering three injuries to starters in a four-day period.

Left back Chris McCann pulled up lame in the second half of Tuesday's 0-0 home draw vs. Montreal with a hamstring problem, and in the game's final moments was joined on the sidelines by right back Leonardo Jara.

McCann was appearing in relief of Joseph Mora, who sustained a concussion and broken jaw in the 2-1 win over Orlando City on March 31. The Black-and-Red are already missing Oniel Fisher due to a long-term knee injury, while Chris Odoi-Atsem's availability for match action is unclear in the wake of his successful battle against Hodgkin's lymphoma.

That leaves coach Ben Olsen with some decisions to make heading into Saturday's visit to the Colorado Rapids (9 pm ET | TV and streaming info).

Reserve defender Jalen Robinson can play both center back and fullback; he was Jara's replacement in the dying minutes on Tuesday. Rookie Akeem Ward is also an option; primarily a right back, he has yet to make his MLS debut. Both are predominantly right-footed.

Olsen has also fielded winger Paul Arriola at fullback, and midfielders Junior Moreno and Ulises Segura could also be asked to deputize in the role.
