Vela notched his second assist of the night in the 65th minute to give LAFC a 3-1 lead with a perfectly placed pass from the right side of the box to Adama Diomande directly in front of goal (Watch Assist).

Vela capped his standout night with a goal in the 68th minute to push the advantage to 4-1. Diomande found a streaking Vela with a pass to the right side of the box and the FIFA World Cup veteran finished the play with a left-footed shot for his first goal of the season (Watch Goal).

LAFC returns to action on Sunday, March 17 when facing New York City FC at Yankee Stadium (3 p.m. ET., FS1 / FOX Deportes / FOX Sports Go).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
