Watch: David Beckham statue unveiled by LA Galaxy at home stadium

The LA Galaxy unveiled a statue of former midfielder David Beckham outside their home field of Dignity Health Sports Park, the first time an MLS club has recognized one of its players with this honor.

The ceremony, which took place just before the Galaxy defeated the Chicago Fire in Week 1 of the 2019 MLS season, was attended by MLS Commissioner Don Garber, former LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena and Beckham's former teammate Robbie Keane.

The statue was created by Julie and Omri Amrany, the makers of other iconic sports sculptures in the USA, including Michael Jordan's in Chicago, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's in LA and Gordie Howe's in Detroit.

At halftime of the match, Beckham was also inducted into the Galaxy's Ring of Honor, joining other club legends: Cobi Jones, Mauricio Cienfuegos and former GM Doug Hamilton.
