Seattle Sounders vs. Houston Dynamo
Kino Sports Complex North Stadium, Tucson, Ariz.
Saturday, Feb. 9 — 8 PM ET
The Sounders made a quick trip home after a trip to Southern California, before exiting Washington just ahead of a major snowstorm in the Seattle area.
The Sounders turned some heads, in less than flattering terms, after losing 7-1 to Atlanta United in California. While that Sounders group featured several young prospects, Sounders president and GM Garth Lagerwey admitted this week the next objective is to turn the page on that result in Arizona and get ready for the regular season.
“We got to look at a bunch of our kids, we’re really excited about that,” Lagerwey told the Sounders website. “We need to keep improving. Obviously, the result is not acceptable at the end of the day and we have three games coming up in Tucson to rectify that.”
The Dynamo opened preseason tourney play with a scoreless draw against Minnesota United. With Concacaf Champions League kicking off for them in less than two weeks, the runway is much shorter for the orange. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera praised his team being more "solid" against the Loons.
