Atlanta United fans greet Pity Martinez's arrival in ATL

When Pity Martinez landed in Atlanta, fans just wanted to show him a little southern hospitality.

The Argentine boarded a flight headed for Atlanta from Buenos Aires due to land at 5:30 am at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Monday morning. As the 2018 South American Player of the Year walked through the airport, Atlanta United supporters treated him to a warm welcome.

Martinez's transfer to Atlanta United is not yet officially confirmed, though heavily assumed. Martinez himself has spoken publicly about joining Atlanta since starring in River Plate's Copa Libertadores triumph over Boca Juniors in December.

The 25-year-old scored three goals in River's run to the Libertadores title. He scored 29 goals and added 26 assists since joining the Argentine giants in January 2015.

With Martinez's expected addition, Atlanta suddenly have one more Designated Player than roster spots allow with Josef MartinezEzequiel Barco and Miguel Almiron all on the books, with the latter expected to be on his way to Europe, though Atlanta haven't found a suitable offer yet.
