NEW YORK
(October 22, 2018)
– When 11 games simultaneously kick off the high-stakes finale of the Major League Soccer regular season on Oct. 28, MLS Decision Day 2018 presented by AT&T will determine the Supporters’ Shield winner, the top seeds in each conference, and which teams get in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs. MLS today announced that Sporting Kansas City against the Los Angeles Football Club will be the FS1 spotlight match (4:30 p.m. ET), which also will include live look-ins to the most significant moments in the other 10 games. Flex scheduling during the final weeks of the MLS season allows broadcast partners to air the most compelling matchups.
MLSsoccer.com
will set the stage for a drama-filled Week 35 with “Decision Day Central presented by AT&T” providing an hour of in-depth pregame coverage (3:30 p.m. ET) and an hour of postgame expert analysis (7 p.m. ET) – all streaming live on FOX Sports social channels (
FOX Sports Facebook
and

),

, and MLS social media platforms (

).
The digital studio show, with MLSsoccer.com host Susannah Collins, will consist of exclusive reports from around the league and commentary from former MLS players Jimmy Conrad, Calen Carr and Bobby Warshaw, as well as Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle and others.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET, FS1’s coverage of Decision Day will feature a live studio show before the game broadcast kicks off from Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan.
The wild Western Conference showdown between No. 1 Sporting KC (17-8-8, 59 pts.) and No. 2 LAFC (16-8-9, 57 pts.) will feature two teams in contention for the top seed and a first-round bye in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs. The pressure will be on Sporting Kansas City to finish at the top of the conference standings for the first time since 2012, when they were in the East. However, LAFC could solidify their claim as the top expansion team in MLS history. With 57 points, LAFC has surpassed the 1998 Chicago Fire’s record expansion team points total (56) and could become the first expansion team ever to finish in first place in its respective conference standings.
In addition to FS1’s featured Sporting KC and LAFC match, live look-ins will highlight the game-defining plays from around the League. The LA Galaxy (13-11-9, 48 pts.) and internationally acclaimed goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimović (with 22 goals this season) face a must-win contest against the Houston Dynamo if they are to rise above the line and reach the playoffs.
In the Eastern Conference, Atlanta United (21-6-6, 69 pts.) and the New York Red Bulls (21-7-5, 68 pts.) are racing down to the wire for the Supporters’ Shield during record-breaking regular seasons, reaching 21 wins for the first since the shootout era ended (1999). Both clubs are within striking distance of breaking the MLS single-season points record (69). However, Atlanta United controls their Supporters’ Shield destiny. A win against Toronto FC in Toronto secures the award for best regular season record and could be won on the home field of last year’s champions.
In addition to the U.S. domestic coverage of Decision Day presented by AT&T, Canadian broadcast partners TSN and TVA Sports will this week televise the Montreal Impact’s pivotal meeting against the New England Revolution, with Montreal in need of a win for any chance at finishing above the playoff line. On separate channel designations, TSN also will air Toronto FC vs. Atlanta United and the Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The final week of the regular season will air in more than 170 countries worldwide, with international broadcast partners carrying live look-ins as the drama unfolds on Goal Zone.
