The Portland Timbers on Friday announced they have added longtime MLS assistant Miles Joseph to head coach Giovanni Savarese's staff.
The 44-year-old Joseph has nine years of MLS coaching experience between Real Salt Lake, New York City FC and most recently Orlando City SC for parts of the 2016-18 seasons.
“We are delighted to add Miles to our coaching staff, and we welcome him and his family to Portland,” Timbers GM and president Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement. “As someone who has experienced first-hand the growth of MLS from the beginning as a player, and through his considerable experience as a coach in this league, we believe Miles will be an excellent addition to our technical staff.”
As a player, Joseph made 120 appearances over six seasons in MLS between the MetroStars, Columbus Crew SC and Dallas Burn, and also had three caps for the US national team. He scored 11 goals and added 21 assists over his MLS career.
