Commissioner Don Garber discusses MLS, Atlanta in exclusive Twitter Q&A

For Don Garber, being in Atlanta for the 2018 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target is a thrill — not only because it showcases the league's top talent but also because it puts the city’s growing soccer culture on center stage.

In a Twitter Q&A hosted by’s Andrew Wiebe, the MLS Commissioner praised how Atlanta United FC has been able to take Atlanta — and MLS — by storm since entering the league in 2017.

“It starts with relevance,” Garber said. “For teams in professional sports to really be successful they’ve got to matter. We matter in many markets. We don’t matter in every market as much as we like. And this club has sort of figured out a way that it has become the talk of the town.”

Fielding questions from Twitter users, Garber also talked about MLS expansion, All-Star and more happenings around the league.
