Vancouver's Cristian Techera suspended three games for offensive language

Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Cristian Techera has been suspended three games for use of offensive language during Vancouver's match against the Philadelphia Union on June 23, Major League Soccer announced on Friday. Techera has also been fined an undisclosed amount.


Techera will serve his three-game suspension during Vancouver's matches on July 1 vs. Colorado, July 7 vs. Chicago and July 14 at D.C. United.


A league release announcing the suspensions included the following statement: “MLS has a zero tolerance policy against offensive, discriminatory language at its games, and is committed to creating an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.”
