San Jose Earthquakes Forward Danny Hoesen Voted Alcatel MLS Player of the Week

– San Jose Earthquakes forward Danny Hoesen was voted the Alcatel MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the first week of the 2018 MLS season.
In San Jose’s season-opening, 3-2 victory over Minnesota United FC, Hoesen scored his first career MLS brace to lead the Earthquakes to a third consecutive season-opening victory. The 27-year-old Hoesen, who is currently tied for the league lead with two goals, finished 2017 with five goals and five assists apiece in his first season in San Jose.   
A native of the Netherlands, Hoesen scored San Jose’s first goal of the 2018 season with a tremendous long-distance strike from just outside the box, sending a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner to give the Quakes a 1-0 lead in the 27

San Jose dazzled with an impressive display of team passing, as Hoesen linked with teammate Vako on a give-and-go play to set up his second goal of the match and push the Quakes' advantage to 3-0 in the 59

). Dating back to last season, Hoesen now has five goals scored over his previous seven MLS regular season matches.  
San Jose returns to action on Saturday, March 17 on the road against Sporting Kansas City in the team’s first away game of the season (8:30 p.m. ET., MLS LIVE).
