New York City FC are gearing up for their first home game of the 2018 MLS regular season by hosting a 24-hour game at Rockefeller Center on March 9-10.

The game, which will be a five-on-five game open to the public, will kick off at 4 pm ET on March 9 and run for 24 hours at the iconic Manhattan spot. Head coach Patrick Vieira and NYCFC players will lend their coaching skills to the teams and spend time with fans at the event.

ā€œWe want to bring together the city, the people who make it great and our soccer club that is proud to call this place home,ā€ said Jon Patricof, president of NYCFC, in a team statement. ā€œNew York is The City That Never Sleeps, so weā€™re inviting New Yorkers of all skills to an around-the-clock soccer game to launch the Clubā€™s fourth season.

ā€œTo play soccer outside at Rockefeller Center, one of the most iconic places in the world, will be an incredible experience for anyone who wants to play, or even just come down to watch and cheer on the teams.ā€

The team will be collecting donations to support City in the Community (CITC), the nonprofit foundation proudly supported by NYCFC that uses the power of soccer to promote health, education and leadership development and safe spaces throughout the five boroughs.

If you want to play in the game, you need to be at least 18 years old, and you can add your name to the waitlist on the 24-hour game's website, or show up to the match in progress and wait for availability.

New York City FC open the 2018 MLS regular season on the road against Sporting KC on March 4 (7:30 pm ET | FS1), but will open their home slate at Yankee Stadium on March 11 against the LA Galaxy (5 pm ET | MLS LIVE).
