Orlando City SC are set to bolster their defensive corps with a commanding center back with Ligue 1, Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League experience, according to a Pro Soccer USA report.

Citing a source close to the club, the outlet reported on Sunday that the Lions are "in the final stages" of signing Lamine Sané, a 30-year-old French-born Senegal international, from German side Werder Bremen.

The 6-foot-3 defender was suspended by Bremen's technical staff last month for two unexcused absences from training while suffering from illness, sporting director Frank Baumann stating that he'd "put his individual interests above the success of the team." German outlet Kicker reported on Monday that Sané is in Orlando for final negotiations towards an MLS move.

Sané made his name with France's Bordeaux, making nearly 200 appearances for the club from 2009-16 before moving to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2016. He also holds a dozen caps with Senegal. If signed, he'd become the fourth specialist center back on Orlando's roster, joining Jose Aja, Jonathan Spector and Amro Tarek.
