THUMB ONLY: Pablo Ruiz - Real Salt Lake

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Signing

Real Salt Lake added to their roster for the 2018 season with the signing of midfielder Pablo Ruiz, announced by the team on Friday. The Argentine will occupy an international roster slot.

Ruiz, 19, joins as a Discovery Signing after player at San Luis in Chile's first division, making 10 league appearances and one in the domestic cup last year. Prior to that, he was a member of noted Argentine club San Lorenzo, playing in the youth ranks but not making any senior team appearances before moving to Chile.

"We've been watching him for quite a while and it's all about timing. It's the right time to bring him in. It's going to take a little while to transition -- it's a big change in his life and culture ā€“ but we're really excited," RSL GM Craig Waibel said in a statement. "He's a really talented central player and we're challenging the depth of the central part of our team this year."

Ruiz was born in Argentina and played for the Argentina U-17 national team, including at the 2015 U-17 World Cup, but is now poised to play for Chile at senior level.
