The LA Galaxy are bringing back a familiar face for the 2018 season, announcing on Thursday they have re-signed midfielder Baggio Husidic.

The 30-year-old is set to play his fifth season for the Galaxy. To date, the versatile central midfielder has played 97 games, racking up nine goals and 11 assists in MLS regular season play for LA, and helped the Galaxy win the 2014 MLS Cup.

“Baggio has been a very reliable and dependable option for the Galaxy,” said head coach Sigi Schmid in a team statement. “He has a wealth of MLS experience and has been a leader on this team. We are excited he will continue to be on our roster.”

The Bosnian-born Husidic, who grew up in Illinois, began his professional career with the Chicago Fire in 2009, after being selected in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft that year, before departing for Swedish side Hammarby in December 2011. He returned to MLS via the Galaxy for the 2014 season.

The Galaxy, who also re-signed veteran left back Ashley Cole Wednesday, will open the 2018 MLS regular season at StubHub Center on Sunday, March 4 against Portland Timbers.
