Brad Friedel - New England Revolution - speaks at his introductory press conference

New England Revolution head coach Brad Friedel is reaching back to his days at Tottenham to fill out his technical staff.

The Revolution announced on Thursday that they’ve hired Anton McElhone as the club’s new head of fitness. McElhone spent the last 10 years with Tottenham, where he worked with Friedel while he was a goalkeeper at the club from 2011-2015.

“Anton's experience at the very highest level of world soccer will be essential for our players to reach the physical fitness required to compete at elite levels," Friedel said in a statement released by New England. "I worked with Anton for four years while at Tottenham and I know from firsthand experience all the qualities he possesses on and off the field. His dedication and professionalism will be important pieces for us as we work to move the club forward."

Friedel was hired by New England as head coach last month. He’s named Mike Lapper, Marcelo Neveleff and Remi Roy to his staff as assistant coaches.
