New American citizen Dom Dwyer got a lot of attention and plenty of congratulations – and rightfully so – for scoring on his US national team debut in Saturday's 2-1 friendly victory over Ghana as the Yanks tuned up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Among the well-wishers was a famous soccer fan who took up another sport instead – and knows a lot about both scoring and winning in his own right.
No word whether the former Lakers great will be at any Gold Cup matches – but it's a pretty safe bet that Bryant will be keeping track of Dwyer and the USMNT once the tournament starts later this month.
