Red Bulls 'keeper Luis Robles sets record with 142 consecutive appearances

There’s been one constant for the New York Red Bulls during the last five years.

That would be Luis Robles, who set an MLS record with his 142nd consecutive appearance on Saturday afternoon at Red Bull Arena against the Colorado Rapids. Chris Klein, former MLS midfielder and current LA Galaxy president, previously held the record with 141 consecutive appearances from 2005-09.

The numbers for Robles are staggering. He’s played in 12,690 regular-season minutes since arriving from Germany, where he played for Kaiserlautern and Karlsruher.

The 2015 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Robles has recorded 39 regular-season shutouts, 67 wins and 412 saves  during his MLS career. He's made 34 starts in four consecutive seasons and guided the Red Bulls to a pair of Supporters' Shields in 2013 and 2015.
